"I want to pay tribute to Stuart and Charlotte, and their team for their dedication to the cause of MND research through this incredible fundraising effort. In the last 10 years our understanding of the steps that lead to the development of MND and how it spreads in the nervous system have increased remarkably, but we still have much to do. The drugs entering clinical trials now are based on much better knowledge of the disease, and we are poised to greatly expand the number of MND patients entering clinical trials. More than ever we depend on the generosity of those whose lives have been touched by the tragedy of MND to help us find the answers that will make the disease treatable. Together we can make a difference."
